How Fincar 5 mg Works
It is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor that contains the ingredient Finasteride in it. It blocks the action of the enzyme 5-alpha reductase, thereby promoting hair regrowth. The action of 5-alpha reductase helps convert the male sex hormone testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is known to bind with the receptors of the hair follicles, causing them to lose their strength and shrink. As a result, the natural growth cycle of the hair is disturbed which results in hair loss. Furthermore, the size of the prostate also increases. Fincar 5 mg stops the action of 5-alpha reductase and decreases the amount of DHT in the body. It also helps to prevent the conversion of testosterone into DHT. This leads to increased hair regrowth and a decreased prostate size.

Ans. It is known to have a relatively short half-life. So, once a person stops taking the medication, the effects can take anywhere around 7 days to leave the system and you’re likely to experience hair loss again.
Does Finasteride increase estrogen?
Ans. Various studies suggest that finasteride increases the risk of prostate cancer. It has been seen that prostatic hyperplasia and cancer develop when there’s an excess of estrogens over androgens. Such hormonal imbalances are seen in aging males. Finasteride increases the circulating levels of testosterone which gets peripherally aromatized to estrogens. Thus, in aging males, the use of finasteride shifts the hormonal balance towards estrogen excess. The same hasn’t been observed in young and middle-aged men.
Fincar vs Finasteride – what’s the difference?
Ans. Fincar is the brand name of the medication Finasteride. Both Fincar and generic Finasteride work in a similar manner and contain the same vital ingredient. The best part – Fincar is relatively cheaper than the brand available in the market i.e. Propecia.
What does Finasteride do to the body?

Do I have to use Minoxidil with Fincar?
Ans. Minoxidil helps to slow hair loss by increasing the blood flow and providing nutrients to the hair follicles. On the other hand, It provides hair regrowth and improves hair thickness. The combination of both these medicines has been known to be more effective for hair preservation than using either of them alone.
Is 5mg of Finasteride too much?
Ans. Finasteride comes in two doses, namely 1 mg and 5 mg. Depending upon your condition, your doctor will prescribe you a suitable dose of the medicine. A dose of Finasteride 5mg isn’t much and is considered safe when taken within the prescribed limit i.e. 1 tablet per day. Moreover, most doctors consider a 1 mg dose to be sufficient. Follow your doctor’s prescription and do not consume an overdose.
Can Finasteride 5mg be cut in half?
Ans. Finasteride 5mg can be cut in half depending upon the dose prescribed to you. Most doctors help patients save up medicinal costs by prescribing a dose of 5 mg as it can be cut into half or even four pieces. Doctors usually prescribe Finasteride 1 mg and consider that cutting the 5 mg dose into four pieces can make a piece equal to 1.25 mg. Thus, a single tablet can essentially be taken in 4 days.
